About WayWyser
The world’s first dedicated trail management system
WayWyser grew from Geopark LIFE, an EU-funded project that combines tourism development with conservation.
The earliest version was piloted in the Burren, county Clare as a geopark monitoring system, as part of a collaboration between the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Clare County Geologist, Clare Local Development Company and the county’s Rural Recreation Officer.
After the basic version of the app was piloted, the Clare-based software development company Evolve Technologies came on board to enhance the software and add more features to what would become the WayWyser app. The work to date has been funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
It secured LEADER funding to enhance the basemap in the system that will show what parts of the trails are on private land, public or state lands.
